Company History and Philosophy:
Allied Mental Health Services opened its doors in 1986.
Originally established as an alternative healing center
for recovery from compulsive, addictive and
dysfunctional behavior and drug abuse, AMHS successfully
helped many people turn around their lives without
costly hospitalizations or dependence on medications. As
demand for services increased from people not needing
intensive help, but wanting to improve the quality of
their lives, new programs were introduced. The drug
abuse component gave way to an expanded hypnotherapy and
holistic healing emphasis.
People required fewer and fewer visits while gaining
optimal results. Previously skeptical physicians,
chiropractors, psychologists, pain specialists and even
insurance companies began referring greater numbers of
people, including themselves and their staffs! In turn,
those people referred family and friends. AMHS became
success driven and as people came with the expectation
of changing for the better, the results became
increasingly better.
Before new clients are accepted they are screened.
Wanting help to stop physically or emotionally
hurting will not get an appointment. People need to see
themselves in the future free of the problem. Engaging
the imagination and creativity of the mind become a
major initial step toward the path of healthy positive
change.
About Dr. Lerman:
Dr. Marty Lerman earned his masters and doctorate
degrees in counseling from the University of Wisconsin
at Milwaukee. For more than 30 years he has provided
mental health services as a counselor, therapist,
college instructor, lecturer and consultant to
businesses, hospitals and government agencies. He's
owned his own successful private practice in the Houston
area since 1986.
Initially specializing in working with adolescents and
families, he began seeing more and more of the parents
for their concerns and problems apart from the children.
This led him to obtaining additional post-doctoral
training in the areas of hypnotherapy and sex therapy.
Dr. Lerman completed advanced training at the
Ericksonian Institute for Hypnotherapy in Houston and at
the Texas Institute for Hypnosis in Dallas. He is
nationally board certified as a hypnotherapist, sex
therapist and clinical supervisor, and medical
psychotherapist.
Dr. Lerman is the proud father of four incredible
children and grandfather of two.
